Health Workforce Development

Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education

HAIVN partners with universities across Viet Nam, Lao PDR, and Cambodia to reform medical education curriculum towards a competency-based approach so students and residents have the skills they need to enter the workforce ready to best serve their patients, and are able to respond to 21st century priorities, contributing to the health resilience and health security of the country. We do this through conducting baseline and readiness assessments for curriculum reform, curriculum co-development with partner universities, faculty development in pedagogy and assessment methods, and incorporating 21st century health issues into the curriculum.  We also engage with private sector partners, where relevant, to bring needed resources and expertise.

Healthcare Worker Training

Since 2020, we have trained and mentored thousands of healthcare workers, including clinicians, university faculty, public health practitioners, and community health workers. Our team of local and Harvard-based experts have designed and implemented training programs in HIV prevention, care, and treatment; viral hepatitis; infection prevention and control; medical education; and mental health, among others.
