HIV in Vietnam: A Clinical Guide for the Medical Practitioner, First Edition, 2014

As part of the continued need for expert advice and recommendations for addressing the epidemic in Vietnam and in striving for improved quality of care and life for these individuals, HAIVN developed this clinical manual to provide a quick reference manual for health care workers, particularly clinicians, directly involved in the care of these patients. This manual is based on the Vietnam MOH guidelines and meant to be relevant specifically to the situation in Vietnam.

Advanced Elective in HIV Medicine for 5th Year Medical Students

This toolkit contains the curriculum developed for an advanced HIV medicine elective for 5th year medical students at the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy.  Documents include curriculum framework, elective schedule, evaluation tools, and assessment tools.  The toolkit can be used as a template for developing student electives in additional disciplines.

Electronic Mentoring Implementation Guide

This Implementation Guide is written by HAIVN for any hospital or teaching institution that wishes to utilize E-mentoring to provide technical support to healthcare workers
and clinical sites. The Guide includes a description of the approach, step-by-step guidance on how to set-up and run an e-mentoring program, and examples of tools for implementation and evaluation.


The E-mentoring Implementation Guide is written specifically for use in HIV programs, but the approach is easily transferrable and adaptable to other diseases and programs.

Coaching in Quality Improvement

The HAIVN Coaching in Quality Improvement training is a 3-day training on coaching skills. Recommend participants include national and provincial level QI leaders.

Basic HIV Training for Nurses in Vietnam

The HAIVN Basic HIV training for nurses is a 2-day training on the basic knowledge and skills of HIV care.  Recommended participants are nurses working in hospitals or clinics in Vietnam.  Topics include: (1) Epidemiology of HIV in Vietnam; (2) Natural History of HIV; (3) Stigma and Discrimination; (4) Prevention of HIV in the community; (5) Prevention of occupational exposure and PEP; (6) Introduction to Antiretroviral Therapy; (7) Basic counseling skills; (8) Ethical issues in caring for People Living with HIV and (9) Care of People Living with HIV
