Development of a National CME Accreditation System
The Vietnam MOH is in the process of establishing a national system for continuing medical education (CME). According to the law, healthcare workers must obtain a minimum of CME credits per year or risk having their license revoked. In collaboration with the US Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), HAIVN is currently providing technical assistance to the ASTT in the implementation of their CME plan, with a particular focus on the development of the system of accreditation. Outcomes of this work will include the development of quality standards for CME programs and activities, establishment of a CME accreditation body with clear mission, goals and objectives, and standard operating procedures for an accreditation process.
